  4.  out, yet the text isn't that clear for those not well acquientesced
  5.  with technical japanese processing jargon.
  6.  JIS does stand for Japanese Industrial Standard.
  7.  Old JIS is the first  1978 version.
  8.  New JIS is the second 1983 version.
  9.  EUC is the standard code on UNIX.
  10.  Shift JIS is MS (guess what MS stand for?) version.
  11.  "X compound text" sounds new to me but SHOULD be a standard
  12.  under X-Window systems (I'm guessing this, don't take it as true!)
